The goal of Life Impact Connections (LIC) is to help build healthy Christian growth by seeking to counter the many forms of a “me-centered” practice of the gospel instead of the God-centered gospel of the Bible.
The particular focus of LIC is the Christian who may attend church regularly but who doesn’t necessarily have a strong biblical or theological foundation. While there are many excellent resources available today that do teach/proclaim a strong God-centered understanding of the gospel, these resources usually assume a level of biblical background the average church-goer today often doesn’t have and, thus, are ineffective in providing meaningful nurture.
Popular resources that are easy to read are often centered in a type of problem-management or self-improvement advice using principles found in the Bible. Although such principles do have a place in a Christian’s life, they must flow from the gospel---they are not the gospel. Principles of self-improvement cannot significantly impact one’s life. Such an approach to the Christian life is centered in us (“me”) and proves inadequate for healthy Christian growth.
The gospel is about who GOD is and what GOD has done and calls for our response to this God. God is the only One who can profoundly change the human heart. The materials/teaching provided by LIC demonstrates how the gospel (who God is and what God has done) impacts our lives so that we learn to respond to people and to life well---and does so without assuming that those using the materials have much biblical background.
